Add-ins recover after clean install

Add-ins recover after clean install

Add-ins recover after clean install

(OP)
After a clean install of SW (with registry cleaning), I lost the add-ins links like CosmosWorks (why I didn't backup the registry keys?).

Now I can't access these add-ins because they are not in the Add-In menu.

Is there an easy way to recover these add-ins without reinstall their programs or messing a lot with the registry? (are the keys creation with the software CLSID, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Solidworks\Applications,  enough?)

Regards

RE: Add-ins recover after clean install

Hello,

Why did you do a clean install of SolidWorks (with registry cleaning)? Did you have some stability issues?

If that was the case, you also would want to do a clean install of the add-ins.

To ensure that your add-ins work properly, I would recommend a clean install of all your add-ins as well.

If you do not want to reinstall your add-ins, please contact SRAC to for their recommendations regarding COSMOS.

cheers,

Joseph

RE: Add-ins recover after clean install

When you do a clean install of SW and delete out the REG keys, then you have to reinstall all add-ins as well. Most SW add-ins or some information of the add-ins are located in that key. CosmosWorks I'm sure makes its own key in the registry but it does put some info in the SW Reg. key, so if you delete that out... then that would be why your not seeing it.

I would reinstall all your add-ins Especially the SW add-ins. As for CosmosWorks I would probably reinstall it to, but check with SRAC first. http://www.cosmosm.com/works.htm

RE: Add-ins recover after clean install

If I am not mistaken if you uninstall SolidWorks and then reinstall, Cosmos requires you to reinstall Cosmos.  At least this has been the case in hte past.

I need clean install as part of analysis process of some issues in my sw2003 installations. It seems to be related to hardware (VIA chipset VS. Oxygen VX1).

I guess the best way is to reinstall the software (AAARRRRGGGHH!). I already am having enough problems.

Thanks
