Books recommendation, ideas?
(OP)
Dear all,
In the end I have managed to persuade my boss to buy some good information about piping systems, but unfortunately I can just buy one or two books (money,money,money..as always)
I am looking for a real good book that covers piping systems with pumps, in areas like system design, pump selection, valves location and type, head loss etc..
I know is almost impossibble to include all these topics in only one "perfect" book but I am just trying..
I am not interested in very deep theory about pumps design or materials of valves, as that is a question we normally let vendor to recommend because his greater experience.
Please, have you ever met the "bible" of this topics?
Thanks lot and regards

RE: Books recommendation, ideas?
A very good reference is Marks Handbook - if you have good eyes.
Also something I bought and have found useful is Lindeburg's "Mechanical Engineering Reference Manual for the PE Exam".

Go and join the www.pipingdesign.com forum and see the website. There's heaps of free piping design there as well as a good reference on piping engineering books.

I would recommend Nayyar's book as a piping handbook.

I can't find any reference to a paper no 201
http://www.cranevalve.com/tech.htm
P.S. Does anyone know if this can be bought in the UK?
RE: Books recommendation, ideas?
carletes, In addition to the the Piping Handbook by Nayyar, another good text is the Cameron Hydraulic Data by Ingersoll Rand, Compressed Air Data book also by Ingersoll Rand. For ductile iron work, the Clow Manual No. 82 is excellent. Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook is excellent, The Clay Pipe Engineering Manual by the National Clay Pipe Institute is good. Also, any of the ASME/ANSI Standards covering piping are tops. In fact these are the guidlines for most specifications and standards. This is just a short list.
Hope it helps.
