24V Fluoros

24V Fluoros

(OP)
I've come across some 24 volt 10" fluorescent units from a truck, which ran on a 24 volt electrical system. What is the best way to adapt these to a standard 12 volt auto system? Should I use some form of voltage doubler? Or can I just modify the existing internal circuitry of the fluoros somehow? Obviously I just want to do this if its possible without having to buy inverters etc...If I can do it cheap I'll do it.

Any help greatly appreciated

RE: 24V Fluoros

Rob, First off, I don't beleve an inverter will help. They usualy are used to turn 12v (or 24v) DC into 120v AC (In the USA)

My best suggestion would be to add a second 12v battery to the system. If your not familiar with electricity I suggest getting some help from someone that does so you don't trash the electrical system.

RE: 24V Fluoros

Take a look at thread 108-44620

RE: 24V Fluoros

Is it single or double tube.

If it is 2X 12 volt lights in series, simply convert it to a parallel circuit
