WIND POWER VERTICAL SHAFT
WIND POWER VERTICAL SHAFT
(OP)
I am building a small windmill at my house this summer. it will be a vertical shaft machnine with a airfoil shape similar top the Gossamar human powered aircraft. The yearly averaged wind speed is 17.5 kM/h. I am not sure of the the following:
1. Is there an optimum number of wings for the wind speed. I would like to produce some power at winds of 20 kM/h.
2. Is there a relationship between the wind speed and the raduis at which the airfoils are mounted.
3. Should the nose of the airfoil be tipped say ~5 deg. offset.
Kind regards.

RE: WIND POWER VERTICAL SHAFT
i dont know what do u have in mind to build a "VERTICAL" axis wind turbine, cause they are not common.
anyway there is a company manufacturing these kinds of turbines:
email:mail@turby.nl
site:www.turby.nl
best of luck
