projecting thread from one part to another in assemblu design
projecting thread from one part to another in assemblu design
(OP)
Hallo,
I am new to Catia. My problem is the following. When working in assembly design how can I take over the position from for instance a threaded hole in one part to another part. When using the projection command in the sketcher there comes a notice that "selected elements can't be projected."Catia helpfuntion also doesn't give a clue.
Any help wouldt be appreciated.
Rob

I'd like to think that either way should work. If picking the hole, you might have to use the silouette icon instead of the project. When I do it, for some reason I've always projected the circle (maybe cause that's what I did in V4?)

thanks for the replie. For all but one part what you say works. However one part refuses to have point or lines projected on it. What I have done now is make a new part, based on the , projected, geometrie of the part that gives the problems. On this new part I can project anything I want. Why this wasn't possible on the otherpart I still havent't figured out. Probably some unlucky constraint.

when you try to get references from another part, and if this not possible... it might be because you already have a link from your curent part to the other one. And because circle reference is not possible then you cannot select anything fron that part.
If you leave the cursor long enough on the element you wich to project, then you will see a message tell you about circle ref.
The other possibility is that you do have some option in Part infrastructure enable : use only publish element, and what you try to use is not publish.
It might happen also when your element is not updated.
It might also be one of the bug you (we) got by messing our geometry...
have fun
