Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

(OP)
Hi I was exposed to PRO-E back in 97 for a very little. I created some solids (not complex), and that is about it. Now, I am about to take a job that requires PRO-E. So I am in a hurry to learn. I have three months to get up to speed. I would appreciate any suggestions on how can I learn it fast.

Thanks

Wilson

I think a good way to accelerate your learning is to find out first what are the specifics of the company you are going to work. For example if they are using a lot Pro/SheetMetal but very little Pro/Surface, do not waste time learning Pro/Surface, or any other module they are not using a lot. Focus on what they need!!!
Next thing that can help you is not to try to re-invent the wheel, meaning that you don’t have to discover yourself things that are already known by others, so have good documentation about what you want to learn, and become very familiar with all the menus, find the useful shortcuts (customizing the screen for example, and using the middle mouse button can save you a lot of “clicks”), and practice a lot.

And very important…..ask a lot of questions!!! All of us did it.

Good luck!

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

Hi,
Well, I must say that we have been quite unhappy(unlucky) with the coursus on Proe with ptc.
But then we find a good tutorial made by the compagny Cadtrain.(http://www.cadtrain.com/)
It doesnot have the advantages of beeing free, but the good point is that it is extrimely well made. The other good point is that you can always go back to it easily and fine the answer you are searching.
The only negative point i can find about it, is that you do not have all the modules.
But as in4cad said, A lot of practices always help, and to be an expert you will need some hours in the quick fix.

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

David S. Kelley tutoral books are really good, thats one of the books I used to learn Pro/E.

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

I learned with the Cadtrain "online" tutorials.

I was up and running in Pro/E (rel. 18) in about a week. I only had minimal 2-D CAD (no 3-D) experience before being introduced to Pro/E.

They've got a good, straightforward approach to the software.

I'd imagine the only drawback (as mentioned) is the price.

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

Wilson - Without sounding condescending I have to say that 'learning ProE fast' is not very likely. If you DO manage to get by on the interview, try your best to duplicate what is done there - you can get by temporarily but actually just be leaving 'land mines' along the way that will come back to haunt you later. When working on assemblies make sure you resolve all Circular References as they will drag your systems down to a snail's pace and point to you as the culprit.
God luck - it's a long and satisfying journey.

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

You can try "BOOTCAMP" published by RED BARN. It's a click by click primer laid out in Days. Day one to Day 5.By the last day you will have gone all through the process of designing and assembling a Lap Top Computer. Its a big bulky book and costs a little more than the average. You can view parts of it on the internet. Have fun. It works'.

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

Books by Roger Toogood have worked well for me.

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

Hey Prohow, I'm having trouble downloading anything from the web site you mentioned, http://www.staffs.ac.uk/~entdgc/WildfireDocs/tutorials....,
I followed the instructions on the site, right clicking on the link and saving it file, but my adobe reader, version 6 says the file has errors in it and won't open. Also if I click on the link on the site the adobe page starts to open but nothing more happens, any ideas cause the tutorials look really good.

Thanks

Matt

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

You may want to check your Acrobat installation... I just opened all the tutorials. And, yes, they do look pretty good!!!

RE: Best and fastest way to learn PRO-E

Hi, cheers, but its not my installation of Adobe, it's the web site link that won't open. Hey how do feel about e mailing the PDF files to me? matthew.gillanders@irwin-nz.com
I'm still quite new to Pro E and I want to get a hold of all the tutorials I can.
Thanks in advance,

Matt.
