BOM in large assembly

BOM in large assembly

BOM in large assembly

(OP)
Hi all

I work with large assemby, it's from 1000-3000 components included all nuts, bolts, and washers in final assembly.
My question is:
what is EZ way to insert BOM of nuts, bolts and washers in
drawing??
Anyone have any good suggestion???
Should I open nuts, bolts and washers and add descritions???

Thanks all

RE: BOM in large assembly

2433,
If you are not using Tool Box, use arrays with hole wizard on your parts were possible. Build a dummy assembly of your bolt with washer and nut mated. Insert that assembly into your assembly then dissolve the assemblies of the dummy assembly. I have not used this approach, but others here have and have told me it works.
At a VAR demo of SolidWorks 2001 Plus, they showed a power point presentation of toolbox.  Looked like toolbox would mate the bolts, washers and nuts automatically.

Thanks for your responded.
I am using Tool Box for all my nuts, bolts, and washers.
How description show in BOM of drawing.

thanks

RE: BOM in large assembly

2433,
I do not really understand what you’re saying here: “How description show in BOM of drawing.”
I am guessing you want your description to show up in the Bill of Material, and it currently is not. Use the SolidWorks Help and search for: bill of materials, start with Overview.  You must customize your bomtemp.xls, located in directory C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\English. Your title must match your SolidWorks properties. Do not give up; because once you have this completed it will be done automatically. Good luck.
