motorized actuator

(OP)
Hello everyone, I am looking for some help with finding an actuator for a project. I need a motorized screw actuator that is small and will move a distance of .5 to .75 inches. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know. I have searched for days trying to find one and cant.

Thanks
adam

RE: motorized actuator

Try re-posting you query in the Automation and Robotic Engineering forum under Industrial/Manufacturing Engineers section. They deal with this little stuff more than people in here do.

Just a suggestion though, I went on Google, entered Linear Actuators and got 63,300 hits alone. Surely some of them would have such a product. Maybe you just didn't know the right terminology.

RE: motorized actuator

If you need an actuator that has a linear motion of 0.5 to 0.75 inches, I think I may have what you need.  Please elaborate if linear is what you want.  What force do you need.  What type of project, onesy twosy kind of thing, or thousands of them for production?  My part has 18 mm stroke and about 120 N force capability.

RE: motorized actuator

Adam, can you give us some more specifications about your application:

Load (Size, Weight):
Speeds & Accelerations:
Accuracy:
Repeatability:
Environment:
Yaw, Pitch, Roll Specs:
Application details if you can share(What are you trying to do):
What whould you like for controls:

There are many manufacturers that make the type of product your looking for. Just to name a few:

1. Me Aerotech, www.aerotech.com (Start w/ my ATS50)
2. Daedal
3. IDC Motion
4. NSK
5. Tol-O-Matic
6. Bayside Motion

thanks for the help guys. What I am actually looking for is basically an idle air control motor like used on a gm car.
Is this what you are talking about ricky? I am using to control a pressure release valve.

Thanks
Adam

RE: motorized actuator

No, I was referring to an electric actuator (12 VDC) in one polarity for extension and the other polarity voltage for retraction.  It seems you are asking for a pneumatic actuator that with vacuum retracts and without extends by force of a srping.  If you want electric, let me know.

RE: motorized actuator

Suggestion: It appears that the Motor Operated Valve (MOV)Actuator for valves is needed.
