How do we calculate silo wall forces given seismic loading
How do we calculate silo wall forces given seismic loading
(OP)
Consider a grain silo resting on ground. Most references simply suggest some min seismic force to be applied at the centre of mass of the stored material, but I have no reference showing how longitudinal stresses in walls are calculated. Should I go on with beam section flexure formula?
API 650 Appendix E has details applicable to tanks storing fuel, and I noticed there that there is more than simple statics in determination of overturning moment.
Is there a similar standard for grain silos.
Thanks and nice weekend
