Hi Fan expert,

Need your help to select a better AMD/Fan type that could overcome high wind (or worst case: typhoon) on a High rise building for an ACCU units on a horizontal air throw application.

RE: Fan type to overcome high wind in a high rise building

Go Centrifugal!

RE: Fan type to overcome high wind in a high rise building

Hmmm... ACCU is air-cooled condensing unit, right? So the condenser pressure will rise and can trip on high head in hot, stagnant conditions. When the wind blows, the condenser head pressure drops... The fan runs to maintain desired conditions in warm weather. If the wind is blowing, the fan can run less. Unless I've missed something conceptually, the higher the wind, the better. If assumptions are correct, just use a regular propellor fan unit. Otherwise repost if I'm off the mark.

Best wishes, -CB

CB1/Waunakee,

Thanks a lot for your inputs, I think Wanaukee is right
as Centrif's can produce higher pressure on the air
discharge side while Prop's can cannot. On the other hand CB
point is also correct, when a strong wind blows directly to the unit that same air will cools down condenser.

Thanks again.
