(OP)
I am an electrical engineer that is responsible for
grounding a house vacuum system (electrostatic discharge in a pneumatic conveying system).  In particular, I need to determine if the  hundreds of heat shrinkable polyolefin bands used to couple the tube sections together could be responsible for electricall isolation.

You see, someone did an electrical contituity test on the whole system and determined it was discontinuious somehwere.  Our number one suspect is the heat shrinkable polyolefin bands.

Do they liquify when installed to an extent as to foul the metal to metal contact of an extended end and a straight end? I know they make a real good air tight seal-I am not concerned with that.  I was wondering if anyone has actually seen these things installed.  Has anyone tested the couplings?
