Access 97 Indexing problem

Access 97 Indexing problem

Access 97 Indexing problem

(OP)
A large Access 97 database that we use will not let us enter a new customer applicant number, saying that the number is already in use (this is a primary key).

When I search the table for this number it does not exist.

When I run a query looking for this number it extracts a totally different applicant number, claiming that it matches.

What's going on?

Thx in advance
Derrick

Have sorted this, just had to repair the database!

RE: Access 97 Indexing problem

Not sure.  I haven't had this happen.  It could be a corrupt database.  Try the repair function and see if it still happens.  Are you compacting the database periodically?  This should be done on a regular basis.  As well as backups...
