Estimating DC FLC

Estimating DC FLC

Estimating DC FLC

(OP)
I have old dc motors that I don't have nameplate info for and I need to figure out the FLC. I know the HP and voltage. Any suggestions?

RE: Estimating DC FLC

The locked rotor dc resistance of a motor can be used to determine the FLA.  Lock the rotor, apply a small DC voltage to the leads and measure the current.  Use this info to determine the motor resistance.  From this calculate your FLA at applied voltage.

RE: Estimating DC FLC

For a ball park figure at 250 volts use 3X the Horsepower.
