3D datum curve into segments

3D datum curve into segments

3D datum curve into segments

(OP)
I created a 3D datum curve and am trying to section them into different segments. The first step I need to finish is creating datum points along the 3D curve in order to use them as references in the split datum function. My problem is with the datum point creation. There is a feature called "Actual Len" in the Create Datum Point> On Curve menu that allows me to specify a curve length. It is using the wrong end of my curve as the starting point reference. Is there a way for me to change this?

RE: 3D datum curve into segments

I have tried this “Actual Len” for creating a datum point and I was able to create the datum point at both ends. Try and click closer to the end of the curve you are interested in, and after that you can use “Modify” to adjust the point’s location

When I use actual length, it allows me to click anywhere on the curve and prompts me with the aproximate location of the point relative to the curve.  I can change this value, but it still uses the wrong end of the curve as the reference, i.e. where the value should be "0", it gives me a value of "18827".  I need to reverse the reference end.

RE: 3D datum curve into segments

Hi nkpham ,
first you select pointon curve, than it gives actual lenght wherever the point may be, it gives whole lenth of
curve and which point u want make it subtract and gives the data, you will get that point
i hope this will help you
