Aircraft Connector - Aluminum or Stainless Steel

Aircraft Connector - Aluminum or Stainless Steel

(OP)
Hello There,

I am trying to understand the implications of making a electrical connector shell such as ARINC 600 out of stainless steel as compared to aluminum.

What are some of the concerns anyone might have regarding these two materials when installed as a connector shell in the wheel well of a Boeing 737?

Are there any CNC supllier's you might recommend? Thank you!

I work as a development engineer for AMP - Tyco Electronics located near Harrisburg, PA. I help design interconnections and electrical connectors for aerospace applications.

RE: Aircraft Connector - Aluminum or Stainless Steel

Some suggestions:
depending on the need/want/and application:-
1. weight
2. intergrannular corrosion in stainess (saltewater environment)
3.Machining cost of stainless,
4. galvanic corrosion-dissimilar metals- maybe/maybe not
