Flanges for penstocks

Flanges for penstocks

Flanges for penstocks

(OP)
Hi friends!

Would u help me?

I'm checking calculation for a pair of flanges stated for two specific penstocks.

I'm following the directions of ASME BPV code sec VIII app. 2, and I found the first flange (Welding neck, integral, 900mm dia. 429 psi) to be conform.

My problem is the other flange, 1800mm dia, ring type,220 psi (Optional as shown in fig 2-4 (11)), cause I found stresses too high... May be this is not the right code to check by... do you know another applicable code in this case?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Heyner.

Heyner,
Have you checked American Water Works Assn code AWWA C207 for large pipelines usually encountered in water transmission.
