Monolothic Loading

Monolothic Loading

(OP)
What do you consider as being a monolithic loading?
Is it in the category as dynamic loading or static loading?

RE: Monolothic Loading

Do you mean monotonic loading?

RE: Monolothic Loading

In some situations, both monolithic and monotonic expressions are used inter-changeably.....Do you have a solution?

RE: Monolothic Loading

Here are my definitions:

Monolithic - shaped from a single block of stone or cast of concrete in an integral pour.

Monotonic - uniformly increasing, noncyclical loading.

The confusion in terms is heightened by this post being made in the ACI Concrete forum.

Monotonic loadings are generally quasi-static.  That is, they are applied at a rate such that dynamic effects can be ignored.
