Pipe Pile End Plates

Pipe Pile End Plates

(OP)
Is anyone aware of a guidance document that lists recommended thicknesses of end plates for close ended pipe piles as a function of the pile diameter?

RE: Pipe Pile End Plates

I am not aware of a guidance document.  However, I have installed 600mm diameter driven-cast-in-situ piles with 25mm (1 inch) thick end plates.  On a few of these, the end plate was driven inside the 600mm diameter tube and about 4 metres up the tube when stiff boulder clay was encountered.

Thanks for the info.  What did you do to remediate the piles where the end plate was driven up the pile?  Also, did you do any analyses to determine what size plate would avoid this situation?
