The new company is asking us to re-issue the certificates under the ASME code requirements. Is this allowable and what is the burden of proof we need to see

RE: Change Of Ownership - Welding Company

See Interpretation IX-95-40
File BC93-431 and BC95-222
I have reproduced the same below for your reference
Background: Company A was a subsidary of Company B. Company B sold Company A to Company C, and Company A became a division of Company C.
Question: May Co A continue to use WPSs and PQRs previously developed by Co B?
Reply: It is the intent of the Code that when a manufacturer or contractor or a part of manufacturer or contractor , is acquired by a new owner(s), the PQRs and WPSs may be used by the new owner without requalification, provided all the following are met:
a) the new owner(s) takes responsibilty for the WPSs and PQRs;
b) the WPSs reflect the name of the new owner(s); and
c) the Quality Control System/ Quality Assurance Program reflects the source of the PQRs as being from the former manufacturer or contractor.

RE: Change Of Ownership - Welding Company

See ASME SecIX QW-201.1 and QW-300.2d Discuss with your AIA.

RE: Change Of Ownership - Welding Company

DeanC,
The references mentioned above ASME SecIX QW-201.1 and QW-300.2d do allow the WPS and welders to be used with change in ownership. Does it still require to be discussed with AI?
