Wheel hop in fwd car
Wheel hop in fwd car
(OP)
Hi all,
Im not sure if this is purely a suspension question or powertrain due to conflicting advice on this subject.
Basically what causes wheel hop in a fwd car? Is it transmission/engine windup or more to do with the condition of suspension components eg. worn bushes, dampers, etc?
Or is it a combination of all these factors?
Comments please!

RE: Wheel hop in fwd car
I don't think that is what you mean.
If you describe the symptoms rather than (mis)using technical terminology then we'll get to the answer faster. Check out the threads on powerhop and axle tramp, they are very relevant.

Damping of course helps as in the Ford Mustang axle damper but axle shaft windup is hard to reduce without fabricating larger diameter axles.
