How to make a 3d datum curve from equations

How to make a 3d datum curve from equations

How to make a 3d datum curve from equations

(OP)
Hi all,

I am trying to create a 3d datum curve in order to do a sweep.  At first, I was going to create a 2 Projection datum curve, but this option does not allow me to input equations for each projection.  Does anyone know a good solution for me?

RE: How to make a 3d datum curve from equations

Depending of how much "rocket science" you have to use in that datum curve, one easy solution may be (for a relative simple curve) creating datum points with x,y,z dimensions, and after that creating the datum curve "thru points".
You'll be able to change the shape of the curve by changing the points.

Try to create two surfaces by curve and then intersect the surfaces for result new 3D curve.

My favorite way to create 3d curves with no limitations is to make Datum Graphs that control how you want X, Y and Z to vary. Then when doing your curve by equation use evalgraph. I only do this when the control of the curve is not cyclic in terms of sin or other functions.

If you want an example of a cyclic curve equation or the Datum Graph usage, let me know.

I actually found another way to make my 3D curve.  I created two separate 2D datum curves, one by equation and one sketched.  Then, I created a datum curve through the 2 projection option and used the Use Edge option to trace out the two previous curves to create the 3D curve I needed.
