Fatigue analysis using linear static solver
Fatigue analysis using linear static solver
(OP)
Hi all
What would me the best way to ascess fatigue life using a linear static solver, not everybody can afford something like winlife.
I am especially interested in the fatigue of welds, although I'm not sure you can really model welds, as the weld geometry is to inconsistent and unpredictable.

I believe this is the standard you are referring to:
Standard No.: BS 7608(1993)
Title: CODE OF PRACTICE FOR FATIGUE DESIGN AND ASSESSMENT OF STEEL STRUCTURES
Summary: Gives advice for methods for the fatigue design and assessment of parts of steel structures that are subject to repeated fluctuations of stress. Applies to: parent material remote from joints; bolted or rivetted joints in such material; welded joints (in air or sea water) in such material; shear connectors between concrete slabs and steel girders acting compositely in flexure. Does not consider the possible onset of unstable fracture from a fatigue crack. Coverage includes: stress calculations; allowable fatigue stresses. Also gives detailed annexes, tables and diagrams.
