Win 2000- trying to tap into UNIX DBF file using VB 6.0

Win 2000- trying to tap into UNIX DBF file using VB 6.0

(OP)
I have an application that rides on Win 2000.  I need to tap into a UNIX box and pull data out of a DBF file.

I have read a bit on WinSock and it look s as if this is the tool to use.  I need to port the data out to Access and I was going to use SQL thru VB to do the work.

Has anyone undertaken this task and if so how did you make out and what tools did you use?

Thank you for your input

RE: Win 2000- trying to tap into UNIX DBF file using VB 6.0

I think you might want to use SAMBA on both the windoze and the UNIX boxes.  That is what I do.  That allows the UNIX file to be directly readable from the windoze box application.
