Query on UW-11(a)(4)

Query on UW-11(a)(4)

Query on UW-11(a)(4)

(OP)
It regards with UW-11(a)(4) that deals with the exemption of Rx for the circunferencial butwelds between flanges and nozzle necks when: "neither exeed NPS10 nor 1.125in wall thickness". Because of lenguage, this sentence is somehow tricky for our understanding. Does it mean that a NPS12 nozzle with 0.25in wall thickness is exempt of Rx because is thinner than 1.125 or because is larger than 10NPS it has to be Rx? Again, if a NPS 8 nozzle is 1.5in thick, is it exempted from RX because the diameter? (of course the vessel is 100% Rx, and not lethal)
I would kindly appreciate your help on this matter, and also if you can address me a reference to support your comment. My supplier and I do not agree on this point and need strong arguments to end up this discussion.
Thanks in advance
Juan

RE: Query on UW-11(a)(4)

Our English language. The key word is "neither" if you do  not wish to x-ray. The part may not exceed NPS 10". The part must not exceed 1.125" in thickness. There is no credit
for the combination.
