ribbon mixer sealing

ribbon mixer sealing

Dear friends,
This should be an easy one, (I hope).

We have to repair a stainless steel ribbon mixer used in the food industry. The main shaft uses sealings to prevent the powder to leak, and to prevent strange particles to go in. The shaft is sealed with a teflon bushing, pressed into the shaft. The problem is that the small teflon blurs that are eroded over time end inside the mixer.

I would like any suggestion on a sealing system for ribbon mixers. We need this seal to be at the same time sanitary and leak-proof.

Thanks,

sancat

RE: ribbon mixer sealing

Use a mechanical seal in sanitary execution par exemple:

Burgmann type 333D

RE: ribbon mixer sealing

The Air mizer PS seal from Inpro may be a good solution. There is a case history on this seal in the March 2002 Powder and Bulk Engineering magazine.

A number of companies try Garlock manufacture FDA approved lip seals for powder duty they seem to work well

Thanks for your inputs! We think we will use one of the suggested alternatives. Thanks again
