Extra Lines showing on Part after sketch change. Very Annoying

Extra Lines showing on Part after sketch change. Very Annoying

(OP)
I was working on a part that had extruded letters and I originally made them big. I was trying to scale the entire sketch down but did not know if dimensions are needed.

If someone could let me know the best way to scale down a sketch that would be great.
However the problem I had was that the lines where the original extruded feature was united to the solid still displayed after I updated the extrusion.

Will the update all option fix this or what do I need to do to prevent the extra lines being displayed on the part. I was able to do it today only by selecting the lines over and over and blanking them with MB3.

I've only been using UG for two days now but I'm learning quickly.

I'd appreciate some tips.

Thank you,
Michael

The best way to handle this situation is to use layers. We always put our skectches on one layer and the solid body on a second layer. Then you can turn off the skecth layer when you are done with it.

Ben, Thanks for your response

I haven't used layers yet but will in the future.

To clarify my original question, I was refering to the older lines created at the intersection of my original extrusion with the solid body.
These solid edges which were no longer present but were still visible on screen after I changed the size and location of the sketch used for the extrusion.

Have you ever seen this? If so how do I have those border edges not remain after I've changed the part.

Are they sketcher lines or some other line type (flat pattern)?

Are thry highlighted solid edge lines? These can be controlled from Preferences.

They're highlighted solid edge lines that seem to have been left over and don't corespond to actual part geometry.

I have also seen some lines in sketch that become unpickable or cannot be deleted. These can be handled with layers.

Thank you for the help,

This forum is less active than the Catia and Pro/E forums but it's a good place for help on UG.

If you ever have questions on Pro/E I'd be glad to help.

Michael
