Datum Planes

(OP)
Need help on applying Datums to a fixture I'm creating. The part is a 2.00 x 2.00 x 36.00 lg piece with a 7" radius across the top that runs the length of the piece. I need to control straightness of the piece to .003. The radius is also a critical feature. I'm new to all this so any suggestions would be appreciated.

RE: Datum Planes

I can't picture the configuration of the part you described to be able to help answer your question.  But, they say that a picture is worth a thousand words ..... so if you could email me a sketch of the part you need to apply datums and tolerances to, I'll do what I can to try and help you out.  Send the email to:

mpwright@ticnet.com

Look forward to hearing from you!
