help with autocad DXF error message.

help with autocad DXF error message.

help with autocad DXF error message.

(OP)
I am an R&D engineer at a major sign manufacturer, I have been here for 6 months and am using autocad 2002.

Here's my situation:
In the past we have created files using a program called FlexiPro, a program meant for small sign shops using vynil lettering.  We then used FLEXIPRO to create a DXF that was then loaded into a program called ENROUTE that converts the DXF into HPGL machine language so our big Multicam CNC routertable can cut the design out of aluminum and create wood molds for our vacuume tables.

Here's the catch, the guy creating the files named the FLEXIPRO files one name and the HPGL files something else so you can't find the native DXF FLEXIPRO file.

My only solution , thus far, is to bring the HPGL file back into FLEXIPRO and then resave it as a V12 DXF and then bring it into autocad 2002.

Sometimes I get an error message at the command line :
POLYLINE requires a 66 group on line 24.
drawing discarded.

Any insight or help would be great.

RE: help with autocad DXF error message.

I'm wondering if you just new a HPGL viewer .... ?

There's a free viewer at this link ...

http://www.guthcad.com.au/free_cad.htm
.
(If not ...)
Then with reference to the error message ....
Is there a way to break down the polylines/ shapes to Basic Geometry? Some form of "explode" in Flexpro ....
Flexpro could be creating splines that AutoCAD deosn't understand. AutoCAD could be trying to read polyines but the elements are splines. So the code/ formula could be off for AutoCAD.
Well ... at least this would be my interpretation of the problem ...
Later guy.
