OMNI to PlantSpace

OMNI to PlantSpace

(OP)
I have been using OMNI/Microstation for many years now,
and I want to upgrade.
PlantSpace seems to be a good candidate.
Any questions I should ask?

RE: OMNI to PlantSpace

hi

The Omni series  got merged with Autoplant and the present Auto plant uses something similar to the old omnipipe resourse files.

Rebis and Bentley have a partnership now and it is said Autoplant will be ported to MS and an exchange to/from Plantspace will be available.

Plantspace is a DB with CAD frontend.
Omni /Autoplant is a CAD model with a connection to a DB.
The end product is usually the same Isogen.
Unless you bought OmniISo :~{

There isn't really a conversion utilty from Omni to Plantspace so  your old projects go to 'Calculator Heaven'.
You'll always have the model files.

I did once write a PDS DRV label generator for Omnipipe which dumped the db text into drv files.

Plantspace had an import utility for dgn, drv Design Review models.

But that was back in '95 Omni 5
