trouble reading sw2001 drw

trouble reading sw2001 drw

trouble reading sw2001 drw

(OP)
Everything was working fine with my SW2003 new install until I've try to convert drw created with SW2001.

I will try to describe what is happening:
1 - this seems to happen only in drw with section views
2 - when I open the converted file, sometimes (not allways) it returns an error reporting that SW found an error in the file and I should contact the vendor
3 -  after error message, SW shows part of the drawing (one view or part of one view) without sheet and missing all the rest of the information. No information in the feature manager window
4 - if I travel with the mouse on the drawing I can see that there is some information because items are hilighted as the mouse passes trough them
5 - Crt+Q: the information apears in the feature manager window
6 - I click in one view and then on the sheet and VOILÁ! I can see all the drawing now!
7 - I save the drawing, close and open again. Sometimes it opens OK, other times I pass throgh all this again
8 - this is happening in 3 machines: PIII@750MHz, 384MB, W2KSP3, 3Dlabs Oxygen VX1 with latest approved driver
9 - 2 installations upgraded from SW2001. One fresh install (anti-virus disabled)

Can anyone help?

Thanks

I am using SW2003SP1

Regards

RE: trouble reading sw2001 drw

I had this same problem with SP1.  Seems to be hit or miss.  I did notice that once the model(s) were converted to SW2003, the problems decreased.  I also had same problem opening assemblies.  Opening them with all parts resolved seemed to fix that problem.

RE: trouble reading sw2001 drw

I haven't detected any problem in parts or assemblies, at least until now.

In one computer I reinstall SW2003, with previous registry cleaning as SBaugh instructed, and it seems to bee more stable (so there's not any problem with the files or the conversion). My VAR, which is also puzzled with the problem, tested some files and they are OK (the graphic card is also an oxygen VX1). I have also tested the files locally and the problem is the same (so there's not a network problem).

In other computer, I have followed the same installing procedure but the problem often and randomly apears.

I will try to reinstall the third computer soon, but I don't think that will solve the problem.

My VAR is trying to have some answer from SW but all the extra help would be welcome.

Can SW be conflicting with other software? Can SW be conflicting with some data, somewhere, from previous SW instalation? Is there any bug with PIII?.......

Thanks

RE: trouble reading sw2001 drw

My problem on drawing pages was the BOM columns wouldn't auto size. The VAR didn't have the problem, so he suggested I reload SW2003. After I did that I went to explorer to find 3 different folders with Solidworks. I'm sure I didn't give it a different folder name, but it created one any way. After uninstalling, I had to go to explore and manually delete the folders. After reinstalling it works fine.
