Relation between EGR and fuel consumption

Relation between EGR and fuel consumption

Relation between EGR and fuel consumption

(OP)
I'm trying to study the effect that exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) has on the fuel consumption of smaller passenger car engines (600 to 1300 cc).
Does anyone have some fuel consumption figures from small cars on the market with EGR?
Any comment would be very welcome.
Thanks a lot!

RE: Relation between EGR and fuel consumption

I think you need to find a better way of researching the effect, since you will not be able to discern the slight change due to EGR from the gross changes in consumption due to the many other differences between different models.

Luckily others have been there before you and I'm sure the SAE will be able to sell you relevant papers.

Cheers

Greg Locock
