Welding symbolds in Solidworks

(OP)
Hello,

I'm a new user of SolidsWorks and I would like to know how I can draw a weld join or where I can get some help.

Thank you

RE: Welding symbolds in Solidworks

Some clairification required.  Are you trying to insert weld symbols in your drawing, or are you trying to show weld beads in an assembly?

"The attempt and not the deed confounds us."

Hi,
Sorry about the last e-mail.
I'm trying to show weld beads in an assembly.

RE: Welding symbolds in Solidworks

I see no need to show weld beads in an assembly... unless you're making a presentation/rendering/image of some sort.
Having said that - click INSERT -> ASSEMBLY FEATURE -> WELD BEAD and follow the prompts.
You'll end up making a new part - that is the bead - mated into your assembly.
You do realize that the assembly MATES are what holds your pieces together, not a weld bead?

RE: Welding symbolds in Solidworks

If you are trying to create a "pretty picture" model for a rendering, you will almost certainly get better looking results by creating the weldment as a single part & putting in weld beads as fillet or chamfer features.  If you have already created a weldment assembly, you can get to a single part in 2003 by either the join command or "save as" (which will result in a multibody part.)

RE: Welding symbolds in Solidworks

We started adding the weld material to the burnout or machined part as a comfiguration. The reason is the assembly weld feature creates another part to track, and mates to repair when update problems arise. If you have gaps between some of the parts the asembly weld feature will fail. If you need to do interferance detection, do it without the welds.
