Bearing High Heat Application
Bearing High Heat Application
(OP)
I have a 1" or 1 1/2" C1045 shaft extending into a 375 deg F enviroment. The shaft rotates at 700-900 RPM.
Question is what do I use for a bearing?

We use such bearings with water cooling sleeves because or temepratures are much higher.

The water cooling is worth looking at, heat treatment stabilisation bearing peek out at 125 deg. C which is a little short of 190C/375F but the water cooling my keep it down. Iam not sure what the heat conduction through the shaft will be if the bearing is within 3"-4" of the heat sorce.

Not sure how clean of a process you have, but if you can stand some bearing dust over time, look at Graphalloy Corporations bearings (http://www.graphalloy.com/). They are meant for high temp environements if you can stand a sleeve bearing for your application. They can be impregnated with a variety of metals to enhance performance. Also, from what you are telling me temperature wise, I wouldn't be surprised if you could use an off-the-shelf bearing for you application with the proper grease and lube frequency. The temps you are reporting are not all that high. As mentioned in another post, check with your bearing rep or better yet, try to get a tech guy inside the factory...
