what Is the strongest shape
what Is the strongest shape
(OP)
What is the most structrualy sound shape for internal pressures in excess of 30,000 Psi. It needs to withstand pressure spikes of close to 15,000 Psi.
I am leaning towards a sphere. What do you think?

RE: what Is the strongest shape
Put simply apart from the fact its very high pressure a sphere sounds good to me.

RE: what Is the strongest shape
If by most structurally sound you mean minimum weight, then of course a sphere is the solution (for any pressures by the way).
However this is a quite theoretical conclusion in my opinion, with little practical usefulness.
What about cost issues? Ease of fabrication? Space requirements and volume of vessel? How is it connected to the external world? Nozzle sizes? (and that's for sure not a complete list)

I can give an approx. volume of 300 cc. Inlet and outlet size of Approx. 3/8 in. Line lenght on each side is about 8 in.
Cost and fabrication not an issue. This is a one off project. The main concern is reliablity.
RE: what Is the strongest shape
Conerning ease of fabrication, this is primarily a matter of reliability (especially for a one off project): personally I would choose the commonest shape (cylinder with two formed ends, one longitudinal and two circumferential welds), because this is the best way to gain in reliability.

This system runs basicly full flow to no flow in .5 secs. Pressure from the supply pump reacts to slowly to drop the pressure. And BOOM. This can be corrected electronicaly. However in the event of an electrical falure to prevent the boom, I though adding shock absorbing chamber that was extremely strong "after all if I build it I don't want IT blowing up" would help in the this respect and ad pressurized volume to help maintain the pressures on the big end.(ei.. times of high demand)
Hope I'm not being to much of a pain. The contact said something about being shot if told anyone. Twice. Hope that part was a joke. I think that I'm safe for now.

My company breaks alot of records in our field and we want to keep it that way. Things like this are what give use the edge, the extra 50 or 100 that noone else can get.
That is to say that if I can make the hole thing stay in one piece for the trip every day.
The one thing I will add in all of this is the fluid is a fuel.
RE: what Is the strongest shape
I think it is unfair to raise questions without being able to supply all the data required to obtain sensible answers: if your project must remain secret, then a forum is not the right place to speak of it.
