self starting synchronous motors

these motors are used as drain pump in washing machines/dish washer applications
widely.have seen basically two types of strating mechanism-one system has got double winding and the other one was a patented mecahnical system in which a small amount of jerk is created which helps in rotation.can anybody explain a
very simple method of starting method used in small synchronous motors-which are
not violative of any patents

RE: self starting synchronous motors

Hello uppili11
Are you sure that these are synchronous motors? I would expect standard induction motors for that sort of application. Perhaps you can give more details on the motors in question.

RE: self starting synchronous motors

(OP)
yes .they are synchronous motors with cylindrical permamnent
magnet rotor which are magnetised diametrically.(the shaft is moulded with the magnet which rotates)it is surprising even some r engg institute do not have an idea about this motor and they assume it as hysterisis
motor which is wrong.actually the magnets are made in large volumes by hitachi.will
try the recommended website and comment.thanks
