Does anyone know if you can cut 1/2" mild steel with a 1500 watt mazak laser using a 5 inch lens? if so can you point me in the direction.

THESE PARAMETERS ARE FROM MAZAK NEVER USED IT BUT IT WILL GET YOU STARTED

RE: can you cut 1/2" mild steel

first go to a 7.5 in. focus lens, it will give you a wider kerf and allow more metal to flow. second, move the focus above the matrl about 2mm and use very low oxy gas pressure about .5 kg. use 1500 watts/80-90% duty. try the freq. at 1300 then 500, 25 ipm as a start point . i'm not too sure how the panasonic resonator works, but you can do this all day on an old 1600 watt mitsubishi. hope this starting point helps.
