I need the estimated weight of a 250sq.ft. wood
(OP)
I am an electrical designer not a structural engineer. I have a 250 sq. ft. room with peaked room supported by 5 columns that should support 5,800 lbs. each and a center steel beam supported by a brick wall and one of the columns. I had volunteers figure the support needed for the room which was previously dropping about 4 inches. They are not structural engineers. Please help so that I can sleep. D

Secondly, that much deflection suggests that you are justified in taking immediate action to support the system. However, I would be careful not to trust the support system you have installed until it is reviewed by an engineer. Consider installing temporary shoring to shore up the system and prevent collapse. Shoring is tricky business and most engineers - me included - do not want to get involved with designing temporary shoring (liability concerns). Nonetheless, my hunch is that something has to be done, and quickly!
Don't "shoot from the hip" and make decisions on this matter without the guidance of an engineer.
