RE: FYI - Clean install

Hello,

Excellent tip!

Just wanted to let everyone know that when installing a new video driver:

1) Disable the antivirus software

2) Uninstall the old driver, and then install the new one. Sometimes if one installs a new driver on top of an old one there are problems. It is safer to do an uninstall first

3) Typically one should always use the latest video driver, of a video card designed for CAD (e.g. ATI Fire GL 8800, Oxygen, nVidia Quadro).

cheers,

Joseph

RE: FYI - Clean install

I agree.. Note: I think SolidWorks could learn something from the NVIDA folks.. When I went to install the latest driver, It sent up a message right away to Stop and disable the Virus protection prior to installing this driver.. I think that something this important needs to fly up prior to install.. Let face it.. not everyone reads the release notes or installation instructions..
