Meshing pipe nozzle intersection

Meshing pipe nozzle intersection

Meshing pipe nozzle intersection

(OP)
Hi all,

I am having issues meshing a nozzle cylinder section for a project. I have included geometry in a picture file below.
So far, I have applied a face mesh to the whole structure and defined 3 divisions through thickness of the main run pipe. However, any attempt to refine the nozzle branch section seems to negatively affect the quality of mesh a great deal elsewhere in the model.
Ideally the mesh would retain a structured, quad formation all over. I know this is possible as I have seen similar models meshed in this way.
If anyone has a better idea of meshing than myself I would appreciate any feedback.

Kind regards,

Fergus
