Question about aluminum design

Question about aluminum design

Question about aluminum design

(OP)
Hello all,

I am currently checking a retractable roof system like in the attached photo and all members are aluminum sections.
Do I have to check them with the Aluminum Code or AISC steel manual would also work?
Thanks in advance.

Here is a picture.

RE: Question about aluminum design

Steel manual won't work. Main issue is that a lot of the aluminum products are either heat treated or cold-worked, but in either case, you can get much lower allowable stresses in the vicinity of welds.
