I'm looking for the annealing temperature of SA-276 446SS. The Mechanical Requirements table shows this material to be in Condition A, which is annealed, but Table 3 does not list 446 specifically or generically. Where is the annealing information?

RE: Annealing temperature for 446SS

Typical annealing temperature for 446 stainless steel is 1500 deg F to 1650 deg F.

Thanks. Was this information in the ASME BPVC or elsewhere?

RE: Annealing temperature for 446SS

The annealing temperature is available from various reputable web sites.

RE: Annealing temperature for 446SS

The min annealing temp is usually in the applicable material specification.
Since SA-276 doesn't say then go to producers literature.
We would adjust the temp based on actual C content, but 1550F is a good starting point.

Thanks Ed. Can you elaborate on adjusting the temp based on C content?
