I've done a forum search and did find some answers in the this thread: thread184-172038: Fire Sprinkler water suppied from a pond
SprinklerDesigner2 provided great answers and some reference to photo's. Wondering if those photo's are still available as the link in the thread errors out.

So were you planning setting a fire pump at the pond?

Or were you planning on pumping the water to storage?

Are you in a freeze area?? As in does some of the pond freeze.

Do not forget about this from the 2013 ed of 13

8.15.19 Return Bends.
8.15.19.1 Unless the requirements of 8.15.19.3, 8.15.19.4, or 8.15.19.5 are met, return bends shall be used where pendent sprinklers are supplied from a raw water source, a mill pond, or open-top reservoirs.
