Maximum rated capacity of davit for pressure vessel

Maximum rated capacity of davit for pressure vessel

(OP)
Hello,

I'm designing a davit for a pressure vessel (lifting of a blind flange) using an excel program which requires the value of "Maximum rated capacity" of the davit. What is it?
The davit is made of c.steel pipe.
Thank you

RE: Maximum rated capacity of davit for pressure vessel

Seriously?

Read your own question.

How do you expect anyone to provide any sort of meaningful answer when you have provided exactly zero information?

Further, if you are designing the thing, shouldn't you know the needed capacity?

RE: Maximum rated capacity of davit for pressure vessel

Get the weight of the blind flange, then apply a safety factor that you deem acceptable to get desired capacity.

ElCidCampeador,

Do you understand how the Excel program works? Maybe you need the author of the program to explain the terminology.

I have a similar one already calculated with the value of Maximum rated capacity like 2-3 times the weight of the blind and it seems odd...

RE: Maximum rated capacity of davit for pressure vessel

My guess: If you just design one custom davit, then you make it for the weight of that blind flange and you're done.
If you're designing several "standard davits" for your facility, then you make them certain standard capacities and you may wind up using the 500-lb capacity davit for a 200-lb blind.

That's what I did. Thank you all

Why the bloody heck do you think it "seems odd"?
How are we to evaluate your opinion of your own work - though I do admire your honesty and your integrity of (1) recognizing a potential problem and (2) asking for a fix.

But, literally, we cannot help when there is no data!
