REGARDING GROUNDING AND BONDING

REGARDING GROUNDING AND BONDING

REGARDING GROUNDING AND BONDING

(OP)
I AM WORKING IN CHEMICAL STORAGE TERMINAL. I NOTICED THE CHEMICAL TANKS GROUNDING WIRE BOLDNUTS ARE PAINTED. CHECKING WHETHER IS AN HAZARD OR NORMAL. IF IT IS A HAZARD PLS LET ME KNOW WHAT ARE THE HAZARD . Thanks

RE: REGARDING GROUNDING AND BONDING

When acid rain falls on bare copper, copper salts are produced that are corrosive to aluminum.
When grounding aluminum cable trays it is common practice to paint the Servet post and the bare copper to avoid aluminum corrosion.
Sometimes the "Monkey see, monkey do" syndrome kicks in and all ground connections get painted.
(By the way, please turn off your caps lock. Thanks)

RE: REGARDING GROUNDING AND BONDING

Sometimes copper is painted grey in order to combat copper theft. Painting occurs AFTER making all of the connections. If new connections need to be made to a painted cable, the paint must first be removed.

RE: REGARDING GROUNDING AND BONDING

Sometimes painters just paint things.
