SA-578 SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS S1

SA-578 SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS S1

SA-578 SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS S1

(OP)
The ASME UT procedure SA-578 with supplementary requirements S1 as :

S1.1 Scanning shall be continuous over 100 % of the plate
surface along parallel paths, transverse or parallel to the major
plate axis, with not less than 10 % overlap between each path.

Can anyone tell me what's means " with not less than 10% overlap between each path"?
If possible, please give me a sketch for easy understanding.

Thanks

RE: SA-578 SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTS S1

Cut two paper strokes of 10 cm wide, one from yellow paper, one from blue paper. Lay them parallel to eachother, and make sure they overlap at least 1 cm. The 1 cm wide (when held in light) green stroke you have now created is what SA-578 S1 intends.
