Vent Pipe PSV - should be calculated according ASME/other standard?

Vent Pipe PSV - should be calculated according ASME/other standard?

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I would like your help to understand a situation regarding the vent pipes we install after a PSV.
I heard from someone that also that kind of pipe should be evaluated according to ASME Section VIII, div1. Since they are open to atmosphere, what's the reason to consider a pressure vessel standard to calculate it?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Vent Pipe PSV - should be calculated according ASME/other standard?

There is some design guidance in ASME B31.1 Appendix II ....

But I do not understand your question ...... Can you be specific ?

Thanks MJCronin for your answer. As I mentioned, I get the information that from ASME standard, the pipe vent could be calculated according it, and I was trying to understand why a pressure vessel standard could regulate also this pipe application.
Since, as the ASME provide us guidelines for tubes with ligaments (UG-53), I went in confusion regarding also the applicability to pipe vent, even if they are different things.
