API Water Separator - Fabrication

API Water Separator - Fabrication

API Water Separator - Fabrication

(OP)
Dear Forum Members,

I have an enquiry for a API Water Separator. As per the Specification it shall conform to the following:

- API 421
- API Manual on Disposal of Refinery Wastes - Volume on Liquid Waste - Chapter 5 (Oil Water Process Design) & Chapter 6 (Construction Details of Gravity Type Separators)

My understanding is that the above two standards only regulate the design but NOT the fabrication. Hence, can I subcontract the fabrication to a workshop which is not API certified (i.e. no API monogram on the separator)? Design will be 100% in compliance with API standards.

Moreover, third party inspection will certify that whatever is manufactured is as per API standards.

Please confirm my understanding is correct.

Thank you in advance for your valued support.

RE: API Water Separator - Fabrication

I am not sure if API certifies workshops
it rather specifies design criteria
