unable to locate "odd" size fitting

unable to locate "odd" size fitting

Let me try to provide the short story.

I wanted a tire inflator valve with a "no Loss" air chuck. My google hits found the valve I wanted and Pic showed it having a NPT connection. This just happen to be through WalMart's marketplace provider.

However, the chuck I received has a "3/16 tubing" connection. the reply to email to ask for exchange came back that is all they have and gave me a full refund. so I am out nothing and have the chuck.

first thought was I should be able to find a fitting so I could use it, BUT I cannot find the 3/16 (-3) fitting.

So I was hoping maybe someone that has dealt with fittings more than I would know where to find ONE. The fitting's cost must be < $6, before I spend $45 to have one made, I'll just go to another vendor and get the chuck with NPT

E-Bay
1/4" fitting

If there is a refrigeration supply house close to your location they will probably have something on the shelf.

If there's a Grainger store near you, that would be my best recommendation. I've found stuff there that couldn't be found anywhere else I'd tried.

Here's a link to their website:

https://www.grainger.com/

Just select the 'Find A Branch' link and enter your zip-code.

Try these people, if they do not have it, they will know where to get it.

thanks...
I had search Grainger and several other sites. the other two posted were ones I hadn't search prior, but getting similair findings. the -2 and -4 JIC are available and some were even cheap. So far the -3 (to a NPT thread) has eluded

What looks like a doable alternative is hose end fittings, so making a 12" whip would work. online pricing though has it about $20 just for pieces. BUT possibly something the local tractor shops could make for me

RE: unable to locate "odd" size fitting

Are you sure that that is a 37deg flare?
It looks like a 1/4" x 45 deg fitting.

RE: unable to locate "odd" size fitting

Try here, http://fittingsandadapters.com/tubredfemjic.html and look at part number 892-3-4, this will adapt your -3 JIC male fitting to a -4 JIC male, easier to find connectors for.

You can also try your local CAT dealer, this same tire chuck is used in their nitrogen tire charging kit, I don't have a parts guide for it anymore, but someone in their parts department should be able to help.

Hope that helps, MikeL.

RE: unable to locate "odd" size fitting

You can also try this, a Parker 8708150000 gas chuck, this one has a 1/8 NPT male end,

You can likely find this cheaper at a Parker hose and Fitting house if there is one near you.

just to reiterate.
I ordered a chuck with NPT threads for ~$40.
I received a chuck with tube fitting
when I asked to exchange, vendor said that was last they had and gave me full refund and told me "just keep it".

so the first option is just order what I want from another vendor

I guess trying to benefit from the "free" chuck is just going to be bad juju
