SW 2001 Plus Installation prblems

SW 2001 Plus Installation prblems

(OP)
For some reason, after formatting my Hard drive, , re-installing windows, and then re-installing SW 2001 Plus, I nolonger have the ability to do Drawings.  I said, ok, fine, uninstalled, re-installed, and, now, I can't do assemblies OR drawings, all I have is the part modelling ability.  Obviously there's something wrong here, what could it be?  A setting during installation that I've missed?  This is the exact same CD that I had installed Swx with before. Any ideas?

Thanks
Chuck

Have you set up your templates in tools\options\default\templates?

If so, then when you did a uninstall did you remove SW from your registry? If not, I would do an uninstall again and this time remove SW from your registry.

You have to be comfortable to remove data from registry because you can toast your entire computer if you delete the wrong thing.

Go to Start\Run and type Regedit and click ok.

Then go to and remove the following in bold

Reg settings to remove:
HKEY_Current_User\Software\Solidworks

HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Solidworks
HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Solidworks Corporation

Close and restart computer, and reinstall once your back up.

I'm currently writing an FAQ on this for everyones benefit.

I hope this helps,
