Mirafi Corporation offers a freeware program called Miraslope which is based on Gslope. Can anyone tell me if the program can be used to do a global stability analysis of a MSE ( Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining wall ?

If so, how would one model the wall itself or would one simply ignore the wall facing material?

I have just started using a program called ReSSA by ADAMA engineering.  It uses Bishop circular and Spencer's Wedge analysis in two and three wedges to look at slopes by themselves or with reinforcing with polymer or steel grid in accordance with FHWA.  It does retaining walls too as single or terraced walls and looks not only and internal, external stability but also global stability. If you have to learn a new program I would suggest that this one would be worth the effort.

Thank you. I'll search for the program you mentioned but "free" is a tough price to beat.

Although a bit late , I will let you know my experience with GSlope and Keystone walls.  I simply include the facing as a material with a very high cohesion  and an internal friction angle of about 50.  This will make the slip circle avoid the wall facing which anyway is not probable to ocurr if the internal stability has been addressed with a SRW design software as Keywall before making the global analysis.  The analysis will let you know if the grid length required for satifying the external stability is long enough to handle the global stability.  
Miraslope will do the same as GSlope, but you will be limited on the total number of materials that can be imput into the analysis.  If you need more information on the program, you should contact the program developer, Eng. John Graham at Mitresoftware.com.  He has been very helpful with us at Puerto Rico.
